Cuba Urges USA to Rectify Acquittal of Terrorist.

.Cuba has called upon the U.S. government to rectify the acquittal of terrorist Luis Posada Carriles on charges of immigration fraud in an El Paso, Texas court, after a trial described as a farce.

  Washington is familiar with Posada Carriles’s participation in the mid-flight explosion of a Cuban airliner in 1976 off the coasts of Barbados, in bomb attacks on Havana tourist facilities in the 1990s, and in plans to assassinate the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, according to a statement from the Cuban Foreign Ministry.

The trial of the former CIA agent on immigration charges instead of terrorism is an insult to the Cuban people and the bereaved families of the victims of this self-confessed terrorist.

The note termed shameful what occurred in El Paso, as it contradicts the anti-terrorist policy the U.S. government claims to have, using it as a pretext for military intervention in other nations that has cost thousands of lives.

And it asks if the U.S. government will be capable of putting Posada on trial again, but this time for terrorism, or extraditing him to Venezuela, a country that has made that request for the last five years.

The United States is legally obliged to extradite the terrorist because it is a signatory to international conventions, and by virtue of UN Security Council resolution 1373/2001, the statement says.

What is most ironic is that while Posada Carriles is exonerated, five Cuban antiterrorists are currently serving unjust sentences in U.S. prisons for gathering information about actions by Cuban-born terrorists who, such as Posada Carriles, freely walk the streets of Miami with impunity, the statement said.

Colonel Wilkerson Censures US Foreign Policy

The protection afforded by the US government to confessed Cuban-American terrorists, while it includes Cuba on a list of terrorist states, exemplifies Washington's amateurish foreign policy, admitted retired army Colonel Lawrence Wilkerson, former chief of staff of Secretary of State Colin Powell from 2002 to 2005.

Wilkerson gave an exclusive interview to Prensa Latina, in which he spoke on many issues, including his opinion on the connection between the paid Central American terrorists captured in Cuba and Venezuela and Luis Posada Carriles and Orlando Bosch, who enjoy the protection of the US government.

New evidence is coming to light concerning the criminal aggressions carried out against Cuba by mercenaries of Central American origin in the 1990s, financed and organized by terrorists and anti-Cuban groups that receive protection in the United States.

In particular, the arrest last July of Salvadoran citizen Francisco Chávez Abarca in the Venezuelan airport of Maiquetía, and his subsequent transfer to Havana in accordance with a red alert from INTERPOL, provide the evidence of a plot that sought to sow chaos and that caused the death of Italian tourist Fabio Di Celmo in 1997.

Cuba and Venezuela re-launch bilateral Integral Cooperation Agreement

Presidents Raúl Castro Ruz and Hugo Chávez Frías, of Cuba and Venezuela, respectively, re-launched this Monday the bilateral Integral Cooperation Agreement for 2010-2020, following the successful development of that accord during the last decade, which has contributed notably to the socioeconomic advance of both countries.

After confirming that both nations are directing their efforts to economic union under a new kind of relationship, which should continue to grow, Raúl took advantage of the opportunity to convene the Communist Party and all the Cuban people to take part in the planning process for the 6th Congress of Cuban communists, scheduled for the second half of April, 2011, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Bay of Pigs victory and the proclamation of the socialist nature of the Cuban Revolution.

During the event at Havana’s International Conference Center, President Raúl Castro also presented Chávez with a copy of Economic and Social Policy Development Project, which will be discussed at the Congress.

In response, the Venezuelan president thanked him for the honor and highlighted the great significance of Fidel, the Cuban Revolution and their resistance to imperialism.

Also present at the event were the Venezuelan delegation and Cuban leaders of the Communist Party, government, representatives of the Revolutionary Armed Forces, the Ministry of the Interior, the Union of Young Communists and the mass organizations.
