Cuba achieves Dialogue Partner status at Pacific Islands Forum

This important decision was taken by the 15 leaders of the member countries of the organization as part of its 44th meeting which took place between the 3rd and 6th of September in the Majuro, the Marshall Islands capital, and was duly reflected in the Final Communiqué adopted as the outcome of the discussions.

Acceptance of Cuba as Dialogue Partner of this important regional forum was a just recognition of the close links between the Caribbean nation and the islands of the Pacific, and of the longstanding cooperation during which Cuba has provided for these small island states mainly in the field of health and human resources training.

The official participation of Cuba as Dialogue Partner will take place from the 45th meeting of the Forum to be held in Palau in 2014.
