More than
600 people heard from 75 politicians, trade unionists, ambassadors, academics,
journalists and activists at the 14th annual Latin America Conference on 1
December 2018.
Dr Mariela Castro, Cuban MP and director of the country’s National Centre for Sex
Education, joined speakers from Ecuador, Brasil, Nicaragua, Venezuela and many
more countries to discuss the critical issues facing Latin America following
the 2016 election of Donald Trump and the recent election of the extreme
far-right President-elect of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro.
Special
video messages from Jeremy Corbyn MP, and Venezuelan Foreign Minister, Jorge
Arreaza, were also screened during the packed programme of 24 plenaries and seminars.
