Huge turnout at UK Latin America Conference

More than 600 people heard from 75 politicians, trade unionists, ambassadors, academics, journalists and activists at the 14th annual Latin America Conference on 1 December 2018.

Dr Mariela Castro, Cuban MP and director of the country’s National Centre for Sex Education, joined speakers from Ecuador, Brasil, Nicaragua, Venezuela and many more countries to discuss the critical issues facing Latin America following the 2016 election of Donald Trump and the recent election of the extreme far-right President-elect of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro.
Special video messages from Jeremy Corbyn MP, and Venezuelan Foreign Minister, Jorge Arreaza, were also screened during the packed programme of 24 plenaries and seminars.
