Vatican Secretary of State Tarcisio Bertone has condemned Washington´s economic blockade against Cuba characterizing it as unjust and ethically unacceptable. During a press conference at the headquarters of the Cuban Foreign Ministry, Bertone expressed: "The Holy See confirms the exact words of Pope John Paul II" and also added that the measure imposed by the White House almost five decades ago against Cuba "is an oppression against the Cuban people" and "a violation to its independence".
